...But we'll start preparing for our holiday which starts next Monday - Cornwall and Devon here we come! I've just came back from Cornwall. I visited Tintagel (the ruins of King Arthur's castle) and The Museum of Witchcraft in Bostcastle. Amazing places , especially the museum. I spent some time by the ocean and was looking out for the whales, because i heard that they sometimes come close to the shore. Unfortunately I didn't see one. Anyway, the trip was a great experience and I can recommend those places to all

We were down in the Lizard. Dartmoor is an amazing place. We visited Grimpound (named after Odin) although it is a iron age (or earlier) remains of a settlement. Wistman's Wood turned out to be a bit of a damp squib to be honest - but it was very foggy and raining when we went.

;D Getting ready for the Folk festival next week and finishing off a bit of panic decorating......... then I'll nip across to my friends for a natter and a little drink before turning in ;D I'm trying to persuade him to let me borrow his copy of 'Picking up the Brass' by Eddy Nugent but he says the language isn't suitable for a lass, the book could be used as a manual for advanced army swearing apparently

On this soggy and horrible day we've got to go down to Heathfield in Sussex for my wifes aunt's birthday. It's about a 2-3 hour journey. Joy.

;DJust finished doing an on line shop with Tesco's for tomorrow, I do my friend's and mine together as it makes a good big order and we can take advantage of the 'bogof' offers and cheap bulk buys that would be too much to get through in one house.

With the colder weather on the horizon I've bought a couple of portable gas heaters off ebay, we've no central heating and the bathroom gets nithering in the depths of winter so I'm looking forward to the courier arriving and having warmth at the touch of a button ;D

;DThe heaters arrived, 2 Delonghi catalytic ex-hire jobs. They cleaned up beautifully with a bit of elbow grease and should last 210hrs on a 15kg butane cylinder or about 180hrs on a 13kg. The amount of heat that comes out even on the lowest setting is wonderful, the front room door has to be left open or it gets too hot so the rest of the house is getting warmed through too ( the cast iron stove got given away as it was costing too much in coal and my arthritis was starting to kick in from chopping wood )

:(Bit of a s*d of a Yule, OH is terminally ill and I've had 4 nights proper sleep since 31st of Oct. Don't know if I'm on this earth or Fuller's Next respite care is the 9th of Jan so it's only 12 more nights and then lots of SLEEP The best support I've had is from my (very Catholic) friend over the road who went through the same thing with a family member and knows exactly how it feels, the bliss of being able to escape for half an hour to have a mug of hot tea put in your hands a sympathetic ear to talk to.

My sympathies, I went through the same thing with Mum and Dad so know just how hard things are for you. It is good that you have someone close by who can empathise and offer some unqualified support. Thanks for the sympathy, you're so right about having someone to 'winge' to who knows exactly what it feels like. The Dr and nurses are very good but they always ask me infront of OH how things are and how I'm coping, which makes it very difficult to tell them honestly quite how awfull day to day life can be without upsetting OH. Luckily my friend lives just across the road, 6 steps to the front door, and he can tell by the droop of the shoulders whether it's a mug of tea or something a bit stronger that's required. Funnily enough the local Catholic priest has been a great support too, doing bits of shopping and taking OH out there are some really kind people about

Not all Catholics are Rottweilers They might have weird beliefs, but most are decent folk. Mind you, apart from my Dad's side of the family, I don't know any myself. I do have "acquaintances" who are evangelicals though, and a couple of Methos. At the moment, my sister and I are waiting for her 17 year-old dog Scrumpy to die. He hasn't eaten for the past two days and shakes a lot. He is incontinent and I spend a lot of time cleaning up after him. I have been in touch with two pet crematoriums in readiness, but it is taking it's toll on my sister now, who has secondary progressive MS, and she is on the verge of asking me to take him to the PDSA... Squeak, one of our cats, who used to sleep with Scrumpy in his bed, now avoids him. It's pretty sad

Scrumpy died last night at 23:28. I was with him, followed by my sister after he went. Her disability prevented her from getting downstairs quickly. The crematorium staff are picking him up this morning. Today will be a none day in our household.

Sorry to hear your bad news, knowing that something is going to happen doesn't make it any easier when it does. Take care of yourselves.
