Hailsa Lion! He did quite a few of the sagas in the Penguin Classics series, some on his own & some with Hermann Palsson, like Laxdaela Saga, Njals Saga, King Haralds Saga, The Vinland Sagas; he also wrote Iceland Saga on the early history of Iceland which is very good. We'll raise a horn to Magnus Magnusson, may he Fare Well! Phil & Dona.

This is news to me! He was a great contributer to our knowledge of our kin. May the gods greet him when he arrives to settle with his kin.

He will be missed. I have several of his saga translations and history books sitting on my bookshelves. I've started re-reading Njal's Saga which he translated with Hermann Pálsson.

I want to try and get DVDs of his history programmes. They can't be that hard to find!
