Greetings!
My name is Kloe, and I'm a forty-ish mad nature lover from Cheshire.
I usually describe myself as an eclectic pagan but over the last twelve months have come to realise the underlying heathenism of my personal beliefs and goals. According to a family member who took the time to look at our family tree, my folk are of Norman descent. My family is an interesting mix of talents and preferences, we have sailors and gardeners on the male side, and general kitchen witchery (non-traditional) plus fortune telling on the female side, though I'm the only one so far to be exploring the northern tradition.
I share my home with my partner, two cats and a collection of snails that always seem to find their way in from the woods nearby. Though I live in a small town, I'm lucky to have trees and wildflowers quite literally on my doorstep and can often be found holding a rugged branch or trunk in my arms, I swear they love me back Like other members of my family I also have a deep affection for rivers/lakes/oceans and for the creatures living within them.
While exploring I've found certain books appearing in my life, conversations, links coming up at workshops I've attended, and during this time I also felt compelled to pray to Freyja. I asked for guidance, for something that would engage my heart as well as my mind and was blessed with many messages. I'm ashamed to say the depth of feeling and the intensity of the dreams I experienced terrified me and I didn't respond very well. These episodes also included periods of illness that continued until I understood I was being asked to do something. So... I've made a promise, to learn about the tradition, to connect with like-minded people and to follow Freyja's guidance as best I can. Joining the forum fulfils part of that promise.
My other interests include Tarot, cooking, herbs, anything to do with fiber (knitting, sewing, yarn, cloth), reading, writing, music, and helping others. My Mother bought her first pack of Tarot cards when I was nine years old and although I was told to leave them alone, I couldn't resist and have been working with them ever since. These days I use my own cards I read for friends and family, and work with a UK based group whose aims include professional, helpful, and ethical readings. Recently I bought my first set of Runes and I'm very excited at the prospect of developing a good working relationship with them. I'm told I'm a good cook (no-one's died), I believe in good food, good cheer and hospitality. I'm considering learning more about herbs at a later date. I used to work in the sciences but left because I felt increasingly disillusioned by the business and felt more inclined to be of service to others. I began working as a community carer, did some volunteering and now find myself helping others where, as, and when I can. Did I say I love crafting? Well I do... especially fiber work, I'm always knitting something which has earned me the nickname 'Madame Defarge' in our household. I've asked for a guillotine but haven't received one yet... tut
